Victoria 'Mommy' Escovedo

Victoria “Mommy” Escovedo, 71, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit. Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

She was born July 19, 1940 in Brownsville, Texas, to Francisca and Ramon Hernandez. She has been a resident of Big Spring for more than 60 years. She worked a number of years at Medical Arts Hospital and later at Bauer School Cafeteria. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

She is survived by five daughters, Irene Yanez and husband Abraham, Maryann Escovedo, Frances Ramirez and husband Kevin, Estella Linfernal and husband Joey and Laura Yanez and husband Fermin, all of Big Spring; four sons, David Escovedo Jr. and wife Ashli, Ricky Escovedo and wife Monica, Ernesto Escovedo and wife Jessica and Gabriel Garcia, all of Big Spring; two brothers, Ramon Hernandez of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jesse Lara and wife Irene of Kermit; one sister, Celia Rodriguez of Phoenix, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Juan, Lupe and Ramiro Lara; and one sister, Martha Alvarez.
