Competition in the Howard County Junior Livestock Show continues with rabbits taking over the limelight this evening.
Steers and barrows are expected to be in place and weighed this afternoon. Tonight’s highlight will be the rabbit show at 6 p.m. Steers will be judged beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, with barrows taking center stage at 1 p.m. The show concludes with the annual buyers’ barbecue at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the awards presentation and auction at 1 p.m., according to Howard County 4-H Extension Agent Amanda Toerck. The Martin County Junior Livestock Show began today with weighing for all livestock between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the community center annex. Friday is show day for goats (9 a.m.), lambs (immediately following the goat show), pee wee goats and lambs divisions following the lamb show and the steer show later that afternoon. The livestock show concludes Saturday with hogs and pee wee hogs shows in the morning and the annual awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. |
