(HERALD photo/Steve Reagan) By STEVE REAGAN Staff Writer A man tripled his legal trouble with one tumble of a car Saturday morning. The man, who Big Spring Police Department officials declined to identify as of Saturday afternoon, faces at least three charges as the result of an incident that occurred in the 1000 block of N. Main.
BSPD officers responded shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to the report of a one-car rollover. Arriving at the scene of the accident — the intersection of N. Main and Ninth streets — police found the vehicle laying on its side in the middle of the road but no occupant. While investigating the accident, officers received word of an injured man a few blocks away. When police responded to that address, the suspect immediately fled on foot. After a four-block foot chase, the suspect was apprehended, witnesses said.
Further investigation showed that the vehicle involved in the rollover had been stolen from an apartment complex in the 1000 block of N. Main. While fleeing that site, the suspect apparently lost control of the vehicle because of excessive speed, BSPD Officer Adam Binnix said.
The suspect was initially arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and fleeing to elude capture. Binnix said it appears the man has outstanding warrants for his arrest on other charges as well.
Investigation into the incident continued Saturday, officials said. Contact Staff Writer Steve Reagan at 263-7331, ext. 234 or by e-mail at
