Newspapers and individuals should be more responsible when it comes to the reprint of letters to the editor. In this day and time of identity theft and confusion of identities, more care could have been taken either by the individual or the newspaper in regard to the letter by Billie Morgan discussing the situation with Main Street.
I seriously doubt that the Billie Morgan that submitted the letter, nor Mr. Moseley did not realize that many in the community would confuse the author with Billie Christie-Morgan. As much as she has been in the press lately, promoting Cars and Stars and other BSSH activities, the tendency of most people would be to assume that she was the person that submitted the letter in regard to Main Street.
I feel that some designation to prevent that assumption would have been the responsible action by either the author or the newspaper. I also feel that an explanation within the paper, would have an acceptable fix, rather than laughing it off.
Billie Christie-Morgan is in a rather sensitive position working with the county and city in her day-to-day activites for the Community Relations Office at the hospital and is in the middle of a major fund raiser. She has and always will be supportive of efforts to better Big Spring, Howard County and our community.
I feel this letter in response should help to clarify the identity of who wrote the letter in regard to Main Street as not that of Billie Christie-Morgan and hopefully relations were not strained between her, BSSH, the city or county officials.
