April’s sales tax revenues for the city of Big Spring were up slightly compared to a year ago, according to the State Comptroller’s office.
Big Spring received $403,206.19 this month, a 3.92 percent increase when compared to the $387,962.67 taken in for April 2007. For the year, Big Spring has received $1,726,809.10, up 3.31 percent compared to a year ago.
Coahoma took in $8,861.38 this month compared to $6,380.41 a year ago. That’s a jump of 38.88 percent. For the year, Coahoma has collected $34,166.76, up 12.82 percent.
Forsan continued to have a decline in revenues. This month, the city incurred a decline of 19.44 percent, comparing the $5,208.91 in April 2008, to $6,466.55 in April 2007. For the year, Forsan has received $23,909.65, down 13.01 percent.
Ackerly brought in $7,126.85 this month compared to $4,174.07 last April, up 70.74 percent. For the year, Ackerly has collected $24,576.04, up 39.21 percent.
Abilene witnessed a 6.73 percent decrease when comparing the $2,375,750.11 the Key City received this month to the $2,547,199.90 taken in last April. For the year, Abilene has received $11,141,509.78, up 1.17 percent.
Revenues were up 21.13 percent in Andrews, comparing April 2008 revenues of $298,641.54 to April 2007 revenues of $246,530.28. For the year, Andrews has received $1,141,833.61, up 8.93 percent.
Brownfield experienced a 15.2 percent increase in rebates. That city received $82,634.54 this April compared to $71,730.52 a year ago. For 2008, Brownfield has received $357,383.66, up 11.04 percent.
Colorado City took in $40,081.08 this month, a 16.92 percent increase when compared to the $34,279.62 received in April 2007. This year, Colorado City has received $181,468.64, up 7.16 percent.
Fort Stockton enjoyed a 38.93 percent increase in revenues, comparing this April’s receipts of $197,165.59 to the $141,912.64 collected last April. For the year, Fort Stockton has received $879,918.83, up 40.05 percent.
Lamesa received $90,569.58 this month compared to $74,655.31 a year ago. That’s an increase of 21.31 percent. For 2008, Lamesa has taken in $420,826.57, up 17.9 percent.
Lubbock took in $3,372,394.85 this April compared to $3,360,769.45 in April 2007, an increase of 0.34 percent. Over the first four months of the year, Lubbock has received $15,838,668.15, an increase of 2.6 percent.
Midland collected $2,396,679.84 for April 2008. That’s 5.57 percent more than the $2,270,129.36 collected in April 2007. For the year, the Tall City has collected $11,702,117.63, up 9.85 percent.
Monahans brought in $123,704.04 this month, a 28.25 percent increase when compared to the $96,452.32 received in April 2007. For the year, Monahans has taken in $494,946.45, up 7.59 percent.
Odessa enjoyed an 11.02 percent upswing in revenues, comparing the $1,765,797.39 received this month to the $1,590,440.57 collected last April. For the year, Odessa has received $7,545,315.59, up 6.55 percent.
Pecos, which ended 2007 at plus 54.5 percent, continued major gains four months into 2008. The city brought in $164,073.50 this month, 63.21 percent high than the $100,525.75 taken in during April 2007. For the short expanse of 2008, Pecos has taken in $624,755.12, up 68.27 percent.
A much more modest 3.25 percent increase greeted San Angelo this month, which brought in $1,382,303.23 compared to $1,338,777.55 in April 2007. For the year, San Angelo has received $6,345,302.11, up 4.87 percent.
Snyder brought in $209,886.55, a whopping 46.78 percent increase over the $142,990.49 collected in April 2007. This year, Snyder has received $903,047.62, a 35.21 percent increase.
In Stanton, officials compared this month’s receipts of $29,070.10 to $20,380.33 in April 2007 — a 42.63 percent hike. For 2008, the Martin County seat has collected $112,052.18, up 53.78 percent.
Sweetwater brought in $215,330.61 this month, up 18.11 percent compared to the $182,303.42 received in April 2007. For the year, Sweetwater has collected $933,383.63, up 11.35 percent.
