Latrice Davis, 82, of Big Spring died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Home Hospice Hospital of Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at the East Fourth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Guy White, retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Keith Weaver, pastor of East Fourth Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Floyd County and married Earl L. "Dick" Davis Nov. 20, 1945, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death April 11, 1979.

Latrice had lived in Big Spring since 1945 and was a member of East Fourth Street Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for more than 50 years. She was a Sunday School teacher and director, having taught all age groups and classes. She was a member and had served as president of the Mighty Oaks. Latrice loved music and sang in the church choir for many years. She was known for her card ministry, sending greeting cards to everyone she knew.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carol Davis of Austin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Dottie Ellis, Travis and Peggy Ellis, and Bob and Treva Ellis all of Amarillo; one sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Weldon Irion of Amarillo; one sister-in-law, Joyce Davis of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved granddogs, Harmony and Melody.  

She was also preceded in death  by her daughter, Lynda Carol Davis on Feb. 9, 2005.     

The family suggests memorials be made to the Davis Hall Building Fund, c/o East Fourth Street Baptist Church, 410 E. Third Street, Big Spring 79720.
