Cosden Federal Credit Union to Expand Facilities
Thursday, 15 May 2008
Cosden Federal Credit Union is tripling the size of its facility at 400 E. Marcy Drive.

The credit union’s existing building is slightly more than 2,200 square feet, but with the addition of a community room and additional offices, the credit union’s main branch will boast 6,400 square feet of workable space.

“For more than 70 years we have proudly served the members of this community, offering them a vast array of financial products and services to fit their family’s needs and lifestyle,” said Cosden Federal Credit Union CEO David Roman. “But it’s important to note that we are much more than just a provider of financial services.  We are a community partner and I believe the addition of a community room that we will make available to local civic and charitable organizations in need of a venue to hold important meetings and events demonstrates our commitment to that.”

Roman estimates that the addition and remodel will take about a year to complete.  He said effort will be made to ensure service to the membership continues uninterrupted.  The credit union does not anticipate the need to close at any time during the construction; however there may be a time that only the drive thru facility and telephone service will be available. The ATM will be available 24 hours per day as usual.

“We understand how important it is for our members to be able to access their funds and connect with a credit union representative about their accounts or other critical financial matters, so we have put measures in place to ensure our members do not experience any inconveniences during this much needed expansion and remodel project,” Roman said.

Cosden Federal Credit Union will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 8:45 a.m Friday. On hand to participate will be the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.

My family has lived in Big Spring for 31 years. This last Thursday my mother, Geri York and I had to go out of town for some doctors appts. We stopped at the very last gas station as you leave town heading to Midland. I think it is a Shell Sation. We had to get a gallon of water to add to my truck. We purchased the water and before we could even get it into the truck we had two seperate men ask if we needed any help. This is the reason we live in Big Spring and West Texas!!

The greed of the people in Big Spring has become unbelievable since shortly after the refinery explosion! Now that there is an influx of out-of-towners the supply and demand of housing is being strained. Rent has suddenly doubled (or more) and "trailer parks" are popping up all over to help accomodate. All these good ol' boys are lining their pockets on opportunity presented by tragedy and it makes me sick. Not only are they raping the newcomers for their money, but those of us who have lived here for years haven't suddenly come into a lot of money. We still work regular jobs with regular pay. Now we can't even afford to live in our own town because of the greed of all these opportunists!
