Special to the Herald
Country two-step dancing lessons will be presented beginning this Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Big Spring Senior Center, 1901 Simler (the old airbase officers club). The lesson will be taught the first hour, with music played for the second hour for dancing and dance practice.
Everyone 18 and older is welcome. The price of the lesson, DJ dancing, soft drinks and fellowship is $12 per person, to be paid at the door. No reservations are needed. Each class will be restricted to 30, but other sessions will be scheduled if needed. With the transfer of ownership and operation from Howard County to the City of Big Spring, the Reserve and Senior Volunteer Program is moving from 501 Runnels to the Center, and is being expanded to include the operation of the Center. Nancy Jones, RSVP director, is now the director of both the RSVP and the Center. Cheryl McCall is the new coordinator of Center activities. The Center has arranged with Lane Bond to create the Spring City Dancers and to teach the country two-step class as a beginning, with expansion in mind soon. Classes in country waltz, swing and line dancing should follow in the near future. |
