Image
Emergency responders look over this wrecked Mazda following a two-vehicle accident on Interstate Highway 20 between Big Spring and Coahoma early Friday morning. According to officials at the scene, two adults and a child were traveling westbound in the car when a black Chevrolet pickup moved over into the lane they were in. The driver of the Mazda, which is registered in California, swerved to miss hitting the truck, went off the roadway and flipped the car. No major injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Staff Writer
A raid on a home in the 1000 block of Stadium Tuesday night netted investigators more than two pounds of marijuana and two arrests, according to officials with the Big Spring Police Department.

Victoria Lozano, 23, and Chad Warren, 29, both of Big Spring, were arrested at 1005 Stadium Tuesday and charged with possession of marijuana – more than four ounces, less than five pounds in a drug free zone. According to police records, the address that was raided was the residence of the two suspects.

“The Big Spring Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 1005 Stadium at approximately 8:45 p.m. Tuesday,” said Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the BSPD. “The warrant was the result of an investigation into marijuana sales from the residence. Officers seized more than two pounds of marijuana, approximately $4,000 cash and three vehicles.”

Everett said Lozano and Warren were each freed on $3,000 bond.
