Sales tax receipts up for city of Big Spring

Sales tax receipts were up for June for the city of Big Spring, according to the State Comptroller's Office.
The city accepted $451,190.89 this month, compared to $402,148.62 in June of 2007 — a difference of 12.19 percent. For the year, Big Spring has taken in $2,792,191.88, up a scant 2.48 percent.

Coahoma took in $18,394.76 this month, down 41.92 percent when compared to the $14,453.89 received a year ago. So far in 2008, Coahoma has received $55,030.45, down 4.86 percent.

Forsan witnessed a 35.08 percent increase, comparing this month's total of $9,010.30 with last June's total of $6,670.21. For the year, Forsan has received $39,210.65, down 5.68 percent.

Following suit, sales tax revenues were up in Abilene as well. The Key City received $2,608,982.68 this month, up 8.32 percent when compared to the $2,408,382.14 received in June 2007. For the year, Abilene has taken in $17,031,393.74, up 1.31 percent.

Andrews had a good month, receipt-wise. That city took in $310,352.81, up 31.90 percent compared to the $235,282.11 received in June 2007. For the year, Andrews has received $1,803,289.11, up 14.23 percent.

Colorado City saw receipts increase 6.29 percent, comparing the $41,020.06 received this month to the $38,592.05 received at this time a year ago. For 2008, the Mitchell County seat has taken in $279,085.15, up 3.53 percent.

Revenues were up 42.22 percent in Fort Stockton, which compared this June's intake of $218,362.40 to June 2007's receipts of $153,537.85. For the year, Fort Stockton has received $1,406,160.41, up 41.16 percent.

Lubbock brought in $3,610,937.96 this month. That's up 9.59 percent, compared to the $3,610937.96 taken in for June 2007. For the year, Lubbock has received $24,234,074.69, up 3.61 percent.

Midland received $2,928,942.53 this month, up 22.84 percent when compared to the $2,384,288.42 taken in during June 2007. Through the first six months of the year, Midland has received $18,215,068.95, up 10.67 percent.

Monahans took in $160,557.57 in June, up 49.75 percent when compared to the $107,213.17 the city received a year ago. For 2008, Monahans has received $810,304.52, up 18.01 percent.

Sales tax revenue was up 20.63 percent in Odessa, comparing the $1,893,455.28 taken in this month to the $1,569,632.66 taken in during June 2007. For the year, Odessa has received 11,806,970.54, up 8.91 percent.

San Angelo brought in $1,364,224.86, down 0.66 percent when compared to the $1,373,378.41 received during the same month a year ago. For 2008, San Angelo has received $9,554,888.42, up 3.02 percent.

 Snyder received $195,891.66 this month, up 11.46 percent when compared to the $175,735.94 the Scurry County seat received in June 2007. For the year, Snyder has received $1,354,947.02, up 24.97 percent.

Revenues were up 49.80 percent in Stanton, comparing the $27,893.59 taken in this month to the $18,620.51 taken in for June 2008. This year, the Martin County seat has received $178,237.58, up 43.35 percent.
