With doors set to open at the group's clubhouse at 3 p.m., Cossack's spokesman Robert Gomez said the day-long event will help raise money for Joel Cluck, the son of Benny “Chevy” Cluck.
“The boy's been in the hospital in Lubbock for a couple of months now, so you can just imagine what the medical bills are beginning to look like,” said Gomez. “He has spinal meningitis, and the entire thing has really been tough on the boy's parents. We just wanted to find a way to get together and help out.”
Gomez said the event will feature a live band — comprised mainly of local emergency services personnel — and plenty of good barbecue.
“We're going to serve brisket, sausage and all of the trimmings,” said Gomez. “We'll begin serving food at 4:30 p.m. There will be camping available, and we're planning to present a $500 check to the Howard County Volunteer Fire Department for all the hard work they've been doing for the community. It's going to be a fun time for everyone.”
Admission for the event is $8 per person or $15 for couples, said Gomez.
“The clubhouse is located at 1610 N. Birdwell Lane,” he said. “We're hoping everyone will come out and enjoy the day and help show their support for Joel.”
