Casie Wood, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred Saturday afternoon at approximately 12:02 p.m. near S. County Road 1270 and Highway 150.
According to DPS Operator Sandra Pacheco, Wood was traveling north of S. County Road 1270 in a 2002 Ford truck when the vehicle left the road and entered a barrow ditch.
“Wood went partially into the east barrow ditch,” said Pacheco. “She veered back into the roadway and overcorrected, entering into a left side skid and rolled the truck. According to the report, she was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident.”
Pacheco said the accident was investigated by Midland Trooper Dwayne Dickson.
Dickson's report did not indicate weather had contributed to the crash.
“According to Trooper Dickson's report, the condition at the time of the accident was dry,” said Pacheco.
Wood, who was a resident of Midland at the time of her death, is the daughter of David and Zina Wood of Big Spring. She graduated from Forsan High School in 2003.
She earned her associate of science degree from Howard College in December 2004 while working with her mother at GreenHouse Photography, Wood attended radiology school at the San Angelo campus of Howard College. As of fall 2008, she was a full-time student working toward her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
