Local artists will be showcased during the first-ever Christmas Studio Art Tour, hosted by the Big Spring Art Association Saturday.

The tour will feature several local studios that are generally not open to the public, BSAA member Doris Vieregge said.
Studios participating are:
• Brushworks: Kay Smith
  • The Grey Wolf Gallery: Doris Vieregge  (pottery, fused glass, dichroic glass jewelry) and Ruby Bruns (hand painted silks)
• Displays of Splendor: Sheree Moates  (oils, watercolors and numerous mediums)
• Schooler Photography: Bruce and Belle Schooler (photography, watercolors and oils)
• A Touch of Color Gallery: Linda Rupard  (oils, watercolors, photography and jewelry)
• Buckhorn Knife: Tex  Irvin (hand made hunting knives , powder horns)
• Howard College Art Department
• Posey Cotton Office: Adam Hernandez portraits, Jean Money  watercolors and oils — Arlys Scott  (watercolor and oils), Meghan Bias  (oils) and several other artists showing their work.
• Heritage Museum, where the BSAA Membership Show will be on display.
The tour will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served at the various studios.
Tour maps are available at Heritage Museum, Warren Chiropractic, the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, American State Bank, Dr. Bruce Cox's office, Displays of Splendor and the Big Spring Herald.
Some of the participating artists market their work nationally and internationally, but seldom show their work locally, Vieregge said.
“We have so many good artists here ... and a lot people don't know about them,” she said. “That's what this tour is all about — to get the word out and let the public see what we have here.”
For additional information, call Vieregge at 267-7961.

This is in reference to the cover page of your newspaper on 11/04/2008.

We as United State Citizens had made history by electing the first African American President of the United States and the biggest voter turn out in the nation, and the Big Spring Herald posts a picture of local candidates winning elections! What Is Wrong with this picture???????
