The local Chamber is partnering with 12 local businesses which will honor the gift cards, said Debbye ValVerde, executive Chamber director.

“This is something we did five or six years ago in the hopes that people would try Big Spring first,” ValVerde said. “We know you can't find everything in Big Spring, but why not give us a try first? This helps us keep money locally.”

Businesses honoring the gift cards this season include Bealls; Blum’s Jewelers; Elrod’s Furniture; Hangar 25; Harris Lumber & Hardware; Heritage Museum; Higginbotham Bartlett Building Center; Inspirations Flowers & Gifts, Inc.; J. M’Kai Boutique; Johansen’s Landscape & Nursery; Red Mesa Grill; and Suggs Hallmark.

The cards, available only through the Chamber, can be bought in $5 increments “up to whatever total the person wants,” ValVerde said. “These would be great as stocking stuffers, for that hard-to-shop-for co-worker, teenagers who want everything, bunko groups, bridge clubs and other groups and organizations.”

Those who purchase $50 or more in Chamber Bucks will receive a gift card from H-E-B or Wal-Mart. For more information, 263-7641.
