Facunda Karr, 68, of Aurora, Colo., was pronounced dead shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday when the 2005 Ford pickup she and three other people were traveling in went off the roadway, according to law enforcement officials.
“The information we have at this time is sort of sketchy,” said Department of Public Safety Operator Matthew Cockerell. “According to the investigating trooper's report, the driver of the pickup lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected, sending the truck into a roll. It came to rest in the center median.”
Cockerell said the other three people involved in the accident received non-incapacitating injuries and were transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
According to witnesses at the scene, at least two of the passengers in the truck were ejected in the course of the accident, which took place in a construction zone.
Cockerell said it's unclear where the group was traveling to or from. Information regarding the condition of the three survivors — as well as their identities — was not available.
The accident was investigated by DPS Trooper Travis McRee.
