Public invited to participate in National Day of Prayer
Wednesday, 06 May 2009
Herald Staff Report
Crossroads area residents are invited to participate in The National Day of Prayer Thursday at First United Methodist Church's Garrett Hall.

“With the intensity of our society's current conditions comes this local opportunity to be inspired by insights and examples of God's abundant provision and assurance of faithfulness,” said Everett Bender, local businessman and one of the speakers for the event. “This local observance will feature short testimonies and inspirational insights on the power of prayer, along with opportunities to unite our faith as a community and bond with other believers.”

The observance will be from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tea, coffee and water will be provided. Those who attend are welcome to bring a sack lunch.

Speakers will include Pastor Sharon Wiese, First United Methodist Church; Mayor Russ McEwen; Pastor Randy Cotton, Trinity Baptist Church; Pastor Sam Segundo, Family Faith Victory Center; and Bender. Joe Whitten will lead the music.

The theme this year is “Prayer ... American's Hope!” and is based on Psalm 33:22, “May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”

Thursday's event is free to the public.

“Our objective is for everyone to leave with a refreshing sense of hope, peaceful assurance and confident expectation,” said Bender, “along with the strength of being united with other like-minded believers.”
