By THOMAS JENKINS Staff Writer Routine business items top the agenda for Tuesday morning's meeting of the Howard County Commissioners Court, as the governmental body looks at the budget for the coming fiscal year and a possible donation for the 2010 Census.
County Auditor Jackie Olson will discuss routine matters, including invoices and purchase requests, as well as consideration of bids for HVAC maintenance for county buildings. Olson will also present the court with an agreement with GovDeals to allow the county to list surplus items for sale and for potential buyers to bid on them through an online auction system. Olson is also expected to hold a budget work session with the commissioners in an effort to plan for the coming fiscal year. County Treasurer Teresa Thomas is slated to meet with the court to discuss personnel considerations, while Road and Bridge Administrator Eddy Jameson will report on pipeline crossings and county road maintenance. District Clerk Colleen Barton is expected to discuss possible action regarding software for her office, while local resident Mary Frances Malone will present the court with information regarding the Air Evac Lifetime Corporate Plan. Also during Tuesday's meeting, commissioners are expected to discuss and possibly take action on making a donation to the 2010 Census effort, and consider awarding a contract for the county's IT (information technology) position. The meeting is set to get under way at 10 a.m. in the commissioners courtroom, located on the second floor of the Howard County Courthouse. For more information, call 264-2202.
