A tripped breaker switch is being blamed as the cause of a fire alarm that sent several firefighting units to Scenic Mountain Medical Center Wednesday morning.
Hospital officials said a work crew doing repairs to the electrical system inadvertently tripped a breaker switch, which in turn triggered the facility's automatic fire alarm. “One of our maintenance staff was working on the electrical system when the breaker was flipped,” said Kim Howell, marketing director for the hospital. Four or five units from the Big Spring Fire Department responded to the alarm at around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Howell said the alarm turned quite a few heads, but did not result in any damage or the evacuation of any patients.
