'Symphony in Motion' tickets on sale
By BILL McCLELLAN News Editor Big Spring Symphony presents its third concert of the 2009-2010 season Saturday and tickets are on sale now throughout the community.
Titled “Symphony in Motion,” Saturday's show will begin at 8 p.m. at the Big Spring High School Auditorium and will feature such favorites as R. Wagner's “Ride of the Valkyies” and L.V. Beethoven's “Symphony No. 5 in C minor.” Featured soloists will be Big Spring Symphony members Michael Santorelli, trumpetist, and Sarah Wilson, cellist. Santorelli will perform the “Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major” by Franz Joseph Haydn. Wilson will perform the “Variations on a Rococo Theme” by Peter I. Tchaikovsky. Also to be performed are “Cappricio Espanol, mvt V” by Rimsky-Korsakov and the “Carnival Overture” by Antonin Dvorak. Tickets are available at the Western Banks, Faye’s Flowers, Blum’s Jewelers, the Heritage Museum, Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, the Big Spring Herald and KBST Radio. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. The Symphony Guild suggests that children under the age of 5 are not expected to enjoy the concert.
