Today I read in the Dallas Morning News about the horrible expenditure in the Iraq/Afghanistan war. I read that the war, up until now, has cost the American taxpayer about $793 billion. Now there is a request on the table for a whole lot more! According to my puny calculator and punier brain, our expenditure so far is about $2,634 for every man, woman and child in the United States!

When you think of that total, by itself, isn’t so much, but think of a man, his wife and four children. That comes to $15,804 for that household. Then think of all the old people and disabled people and all the unemployed people. The total begins to reach the astronomical level. My little great-granddaughter will join the mighty throng who will pay for the folly of the 21st century war.

In addition, think of the 3,500 plus men and women who have been killed. We hear that they freely gave their lives. I was on the front lines in Korea during 1952 and I have yet to see that happen. I saw lives horribly blown from the bodies of men who wanted to go home and enjoy the good old USA, like I was privileged to do. War is hell, it always has been and always will be. We need to bring our troops home!

Mr. Adams, thanks for fighting for my freedom when I was only one year old.I cherish my rights and liberties and am proud of American men and women who proudly join the forces to fight America's enemies. I agree that the cost of this war is astronomical, however this household has already paid $24,352 in taxes as of the end of Sept. into America's coffers. Freedom is priceless but cowardness is costly.
