Maybe if those unhappy motorists and truckers had shown some Christmas spirit and participated in the parade, they wouldn't have had to worry about 'gridlock.' Ever think of that, B.J. Holliman? And what kind of appointments do you have at 5:30 on a Saturday night? A hot date with your proctologist? A bikini wax? Find something worth wild to complain about. Your exposing your idiotic nature to the world.

Well I for one have had to deal with this 'gridlock' on the traffic for the various parades or Fantastic 4th road closures for the past several years - and what do you ask is so importart at that time of day?? Well most of the time it is due to the fact that I have had to get to the VA Medical Center either to pick up or drop off my wife who is employed their, or in two other trips that come to mind; it was to be seen and treated in the VA's ER for a medical emergency, where as a Veteran it is my earned right to be seen there, and I prefer their care over Scenic Mountains. And this turns into an ordeal everytime. I have had on every one of these occassions go and try to make one of our local police officers understand that I needed to get across the road to gain entry to the VA hospital only to be turned away, and yes that includes the two time when I was trying to get to the VA's Emergency Room. (Since I live out of town, it is faster for me to drive myself in to the hospital then wait for a dispatched ambulance to try and find where I live.) So yes I do believe that the parade route needs to be changed simply because I makes it hard on the medical stafff at the VA to get to work when the main entrances to the VA are effectively blocked off and for the Veterans who have earned the right to be seen at the VA. Since these road closures happen either at night or on a weekend, most of the medial support staff (Xray techs, ect) are on call, and not at the hospital. Add to that, the fact that the VA's Flight-for-Life Helipad is located next to Hwy 87, and we will eventually have a situation where the road closure is going to interfere with a person getting the life saving medical care they need. So, Yes maybe the city council should look into updating the parade routes and how they handle the road closures and routing of traffic for the Fantastic 4th.

I agree with B.J.. Why can't the parade be on Main street instead of Gregg? Gregg street is so busy at all times of the day no matter if it is a weekend or not. And as for the comment left by Mr. Perez, he is the one showing his ignorance; not B.J.. Not everyone can attend the Christmas parade and just because they can't doesn't mean they don't have Christmas spirit. And the truck drivers just passing through are out on the road doing a job for YOU Mr. Perez. How do you think you get all the things you buy at a store? A truck driver delivers them so all you have to do is go in the store and purchase them. So truckdrivers don't have the luxury of getting to take time out of thier day to watch a small town parade.

It is all a big conspiracy by the city officials to see just how many people would complain about this very same issue,Ha,Ha you all been fooled.
