Vivian Marie "Yahntquese" Whitetree Ward, 69, of Odessa, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, with Glenn Jones and Don Galloway officiating. nterment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Claremore, Okla. and married William C. Ward Jr. (Bill) Sept. 29, 1973, in Big Spring.

Vivian grew up near Grove, Okla. and attended school at Turkey Ford. She earned her GED then earned a BA in sociology. She went on to earn a master's degree in chaplaincy. She volunteered and later worked as a Chaplain at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. She was a proud member of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe in Oklahoma, where her father once served as chief.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; her son, Kerry Norwood and wife, Cristy; her daughter, Kim Purrington; and four grandchildren.
