Volunteers paint the town with purple as Relay nears

June 4, 2014

Relay for Life committee members are hoping the community will decorate the town with a sea of purple this week to celebrate 20 years of the Howard-Glasscock Relay For Life event.

“We are encouraging businesses and residents to decorate their stores and homes with pink and purple decorations,” said Debbye ValVerde, Relay For Life committee member and eight-year cancer survivor. “Relay For Life is a key fund-raising event to help fund the fight against cancer. We are hoping to get community support. All the purple decorations outside city hall, the chamber and courthouse are to show support for this very important community event.”
