Voter registration deadline nears

April 8, 2011

Time is running out for Big Spring residents to register to vote in the May 14 municipal election, as the April 14 deadline is less than a week away.

With early voting set to begin May 2 and run through May 10, Howard County Elections Administrator Saundra Bloom said she and her team of election judges are gearing up for the political contests.

“The deadline to register to vote in any election is 30 days, so we're getting really close to that deadline now,” Bloom said. “If you're not yet registered, our office can get you set up in time for election day. Also, if anyone simply isn't sure about their voter registration status, they can give us a call and we can check on it for them. It's much better to find out ahead of time, that way if there is a problem we have time to get it fixed.”
