Waiver applications headed to TEA

October 11, 2013

Forty-one down, nine to go.

Trustees with the Big Spring Independent School District were pleased to learn that officials plan to apply for only nine class-size waivers from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) this year.

“As the result of (personnel) moves we made earlier this year — some of our staff members and some from new hires — we are requesting only nine class-size waivers as compared to 50 waivers that we applied for last year.” said Chris Wigington, BSISD interim superintendent. “Without the hires and the moves that we made, we would be requesting 29 waivers."
