Wanda Beauchamp Petty, 81, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Elder Troy Barrington officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the funeral home.
Wanda was born June 6, 1932, in Midland, Texas, and married Estil Petty Sept. 24, 1950, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death March 28, 2005.
Wanda was employed at Montgomery Wards until they closed and then Johanson's nursery for 20-plus years. She loved growing orchids and flowers in her greenhouse next to her home in Sand Springs.
She was a member of Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church of Big Spring.
Survivors include one sister, Eileen Boen and friend Pete Jones; two sons, Freddy Petty of Sanger and Joel Petty and wife Rhonda of Meadville, Miss.; one daughter, Brenda Petty of Big Spring; six grandchildren, Chad Ober and wife Mindy, Kelly Russler and husband Malachi, Bruce Petty, Lauren Petty, Joanna Petty and Clint Petty; six great-grandchildren Austin, Haylee, Knox, Jude, Jayden and Laing.
In addition to her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Iva Beauchamp and two infants brothers, Allan and Jimmy.
