Wanted: District 3 trustee

July 22, 2011

Position open: Trustee for West Texas school district. Responsibilities notable. Pay non-existent. Benefits intangible. To apply, call …

The search for a District 3 trustee was one of several items discussed by Big Spring Independent School District trustees during their Thursday meeting.

District 3, which encompasses the west-central portion of Big Spring (including Coronado Hills, Indian Hills, the neighborhoods surrounding Parkway Street and Edwards Heights), has been without an active trustee since Alan Partee declined to seek re-election earlier this year.

Since he's never been officially replaced, Partee is still technically the District 3 trustee, although he hasn't taken an active role since the May elections, Board President Jeff Brorman said.

Since that time, school officials have approached several individuals about serving on the board, but none have volunteered, Brorman added.
