Wayne L. Morris, 90, of Big Spring, died Tuesday at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Elwin Collom officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1923 in Iredell, Texas and married Marciel Newman Nov. 7, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas.
He came to Howard County in 1939. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Wayne worked at Cosden Refinery from 1950 until retiring in 1982. After retiring, he and Marciel enjoyed spending summers in
Colorado and winters in Port Aransas and loved to fish. He especially loved being "Pawpaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Wright and husband, Alan; one son, Gary Morris and wife, Zally all of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Jennifer Davis and husband, Shawn of Liberty Hill, Lee Morris and wife, Krista of Trophy Club, and Dustin Wright and Brent Wright both of Big Spring; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Ryan Davis, Kensey Morris and Grant Morris; one brother, C. L. Morris and wife, Charlene of Granbury; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie L. and Esther Cranfill Morris.
