Wesley Charles Carroll Jr.

July 10, 2014

Wesley Charles Carroll Jr., of Lago Vista, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2014. Wes was born May 17, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas, and lived there until moving to Lago Vista eight years ago with his wife, Genie. Wes worked at Sid Richardson Carbon Company for 31 years and retired from the position of Lead Lab Technician in 2004.

For much of his life, Wes enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful pieces of furniture and household objects for his home, friends and family. He was also very athletic and enjoyed playing golf, even passing on this love to his grandson.

He was a charter member of Lakeside Christian Fellowship in Lago Vista, and he was active in his church until his death. Wes was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Genie Carroll, of Lago Vista; his son Tim Carroll, of North Bethesda, Md.; his daughter, Amy Carroll Shapiro, son-in-law, Matt Shapiro, and grandson, Zachary Shapiro, all of Leander, Texas; his sister, Ellouise Carroll Swinney, of Abilene, Texas; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Charles Carroll Sr., and Ella Neill Carroll.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Spina Bifida Texas (www.sbatx.org), American Lung Association (www.lung.org), or Lakeside Christian Fellowship in Lago Vista (www.lakesidechristians.org).

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all who have shown their love and friendship during this time.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10:00 at Trinity Memorial Park, 6900 South Hwy. 87, Big Spring, TX 79720. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.myersandsmith.com
