Wife's nudge makes author out of officer

Mike Eggleston had lots of stories from his days as a Texas peace officer, but it took a nudge from his wife to put those stories on paper.

Eggleston, whose career in law enforcement included a stint with the Big Spring Police Department, was at the Heritage Museum Wednesday to sign copies of “Distorted Pillars,” a fictionalized account of some of the events in his career.

Written under his pen name, Mike McKee, the book follows the career of Mike Evans, who strikes out at anything he considers unethical, unfair or unpatriotic.

According to a synopsis of the book, Evans continuously deals with exciting, dangerous situations, some of which result in death, while others become hilarious and end with the unexpected.
