Wildfire partially contained
Howard County's long, hot summer continues.
A trio of wildfires scorched thousands of acres in the eastern half of the county Tuesday, resulting in two volunteer firefighters being sent to a local hospital.
The largest of the three blazes — in the vicinity of Garrett Ranch in eastern Howard County — consumed more than 3,000 acres and was only partially contained at midday today.
Howard County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tommy Sullivan said a downed oil company power line sparked the fire.
