Willie Ruth Barber

Willie Ruth Barber, 83, of Big Spring, Texas went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013. Her husband, Hubert Barber, passed away in November 2012. The two were reunited in a Christmas celebration.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Eddie Prince officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Lamesa to Dollie and James Martin. She married Hubert Barber on Oct. 3, 1957, in Lamesa. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2012. They moved from Lamesa to Big Spring in 1957. She was a homemaker.

Willie was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of God, attending faithfully. She loved The Lord with all of her heart. She loved worship music and also played the piano. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by so many people.

She is survived by four sons, Junior Barber, Phil Barber and Daniel Barber, all of Big Spring, and Mark Barber of Plano; one daughter, Lana Munoz of Big Spring; one sister, Mary Sandel of Lamesa; seven grandchildren, Stacie Purcell and her husband John, Phylesha Tabor and her husband Jace, Chaeley Barber, Kody Barber, Tiffany Emerson, Cassie Emerson and Rachelle Ybarra and her husband Chris; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Sue Barber; one sister; and five brothers.

Pallbearers will be John Purcell, Kody Barber, Patrick Heckler, Chris Ybarra, Mark Bedwell and Mickey Barber.
