Wilma Brooks, 66 of Stanton died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in a Midland hospital. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Central time at the Portales Cemetery, Portales, N.M.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.

Wilma was born Nov. 3, 1947 in Portales, N.M. to Jim and Freeda Vernon McBride. She married Bill Brooks Nov. 23, 1967 in Portales.

She grew up in Portales and attended Eastern New Mexico State. They moved to Stanton in 1989. She was a member of the Belvue Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Brooks of Stanton; two sons, Scott Brooks and wife, Paula of Stanton and Craig Brooks and wife, Chelan of Tulsa, Okla.; one,daughter, Shelley Ramirez and husband, Eusebio of Stanton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her mother, Freeda McBride of Portales, N.M.; and one sister, Wynette McKillip of Portales, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim McBride; one son, William Eric Brooks; and one brother, Walter McBride.

The family suggests memorial be made to the Allison Cancer Treatment Center of Midland or MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center.
