Word still out on relocating fifth graders

May 7, 2014

The old Goliad Intermediate School will be reopened as a sixth-grade campus for the 2014-2015 school year but Big Spring Independent School District officials are still contemplating whether to add fifth graders into the mix.

To address growing rumors, Superintendent Chris Wigington touched on the subject during Monday’s public community night meeting.

“It’s something we’ve talked about but we haven’t made a decision,” Wigington said. “We are going to look at the numbers in the summer first. We know it’s coming (increasing student growth). You can just look at Midland/Odessa, but that decision has not been made.”
