Young Eagles grounded again

The Young Eagles have been grounded — for this year, anyway.

The Hangar 25 Air Museum youth group was scheduled to take to the skies Saturday in free flights provided by area pilots, but a lack of available aircraft has grounded the program for this year, said Joe Hayes, executive director of the museum.

“(Thursday), I spoke with Airport Director Jim Little, who had been in communication with Steve Clinton of the Midland Experimental Aircraft Association,” Hayes said. “Clinton's group would have been conducting the flights for our area youth. The reason given for the cancellation is the unavailability of aircraft at this time.”

Hayes said the EAA's pilots had been working to have their planes ready for Saturday's event, but only one in four were available.
