Youth fishing tournament Saturday

February 11, 2011

Gone fishin'.

That's the sign several Greater Big Spring Rotary Club members will hang on their doors Saturday as the group hosts the third annual Kid's Fishing Tournament at Comanche Trail Lake.

Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. at the Dora Roberts Community Center. Signs will advise the young fishermen where to go once they arrive. actual tournament is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is for boys and girls age 17 and under.

Prior to tournament's start, the youth will get a crash course in trout fishing, said Ken McIntosh, pastor of First Christian Church, Greater Rotary member and event chairman, who began the tournament in 2009. The Rotary Club took it over in 2010.

No experience is necessary but the young fishermen will need to have their own equipment and bait.
