The Lady Steers will travel to Greenwood to take on Monahans in a best-of-three series starting tonight at 5 p.m.
“They’re a good solid ball club. They’ve got a good pitcher and they play good, solid defense. They haven’t scored a lot of runs in some of their games, but they’re capable of putting the ball in play, and they’re very solid fundamentally and have had a good season,” Big Spring head coach Howell Martin said.
Martin, who started Yzzy Soliz in game one and Mariah Sarmiento in game two last weekend against Borger, said he hasn’t quite decided which of the two will be on the mound for the first pitch of the series.
“Haven’t made up my mind yet. I want to keep that a little bit of a mystery,” he said. “But I think either way we go, we’ll good a good pitching performance from either one, and I just want to kind of keep my options open.”

Forsan boys

The Forsan Buffaloes (16-5, 8-0) will make the 150-mile trip to Pecos to take on the Anthony Wildcats (1-9,0-8) in a one-game series tonight. Anthony qualified for the playoffs by finishing in the top four of a four-team 5-2A district.
“We really don’t know a whole lot about them. We were in their football district, but baseball-wise, haven’t heard a whole lot about them,” Forsan head coach Dave Park said. “Hopefully we’ll go out and compete that one game and take care of business.”

Forsan girls

The Lady Buffaloes (18-8, 10-0) outscored their district opponents 152-38 this year, and if head coach Shanna Taylor is right, they should be able to continue their hot streak against Abernathy High School.
“They play a lot like the teams in our district. I think it’ll be a good game, but we like our chances,” Taylor said.
