As if anyone needed a reason to go shopping, the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce has provided a doozy.
In an effort to promote the local business community, the chamber has organized a Summer Shopping Extravaganza featuring a group of businesses in different sections of town over the next three Thursdays.
“We get calls from people asking us why don’t businesses here stay open later,” said Debbye ValVerde, chamber executive director. “Some people get off work too late to go shop at some of these great businesses.”
According to ValVerde, some of the businesses will offer special deals during the event, others refreshments, and some businesses will offer limited door prizes. The first Summer Shopper Extravaganza will be held Thursday and feature downtown Big Spring shops. Participating businesses will keep their doors open until 8 p.m.
A list of businesses participating in this Thursday's event can be found in Monday's edition of the Big Spring Herald.
