Early voting draws 65 ballots

The last day of early voting Tuesday for Big Spring and Coahoma city council elections drew about 11 voters to the polls, bringing the early vote count to 65 ballots.
According to information released by the Howard County Election’s Office, 55 voters went to the polls early while 10 sent in ballots by mail.
This election will determine two races — District 1 on the Big Spring city council and two at-large positions for the Coahoma city council.
The District 1 race is between Raul J. Marquez Jr. who is seeking his second term in office and Tracy Parker. In Coahoma, Jay Holt, Brandy Manning, both incumbents, as well as T.J. Rueda, and John Mulkey are all seeking to serve.
Election Day is Saturday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Big Spring voters who live in District 1 will vote at East Room of the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum located on the Howard College campus, 1001 Birdwell Lane. Coahoma residents will vote at the Coahoma Community Center.
