Wingo, Lopez indicted by grand jury

Staff Writer

Two people arrested last week on charges related to the investigation into the death of a 12-year-old boy were indicted by a Howard County grand jury Thursday on offenses that occurred in 2016.
The Howard County Grand Jury handed down four indictments each to Cody Alan Wingo, 28, and Cindy Machado Lopez, 20, for drug and theft charges.
Wingo and Lopez received separate indictments for possession of controlled substance, less than 1 gram (state jail felony); theft, more than $2,500 but less than $30,000 (state jail felony); possession of controlled substance, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams (third degree felony); and prohibited weapon (third degree felony).
Three of the indictments were related to an incident on Nov. 30, 2016, after police officers obtained a warrant to search a residence in the 800 block of W. 6th St. where police said they found narcotics and stolen property.
Last week, the two were among three people including Christopher Andrew Yanez arrested on charges in relation to the investigation into the death of 12-year-old Jose Hernandez. A fourth person, Kim Carson, was arrested this week.
