Multiple policies approved by city council

At their meeting Tuesday evening, Big Spring City Council members approved a new method for ATMOS Energy to determine its rates for natural gas in the city, and also made changes to the city’s sexual harassment and social media policies.
The ATMOS change switches the rate determination process from the current GRIP (Gas Reliability Infrastructure Program) method to the RRM (Rate Review Mechanism) method, according to City Finance Director Donald Moore.
Moore explained that Big Spring is part of a coalition of cities called “The Steering Committee of Cities Served by ATMOS Energy’s West Texas Division,” and the membership and legal counsel of the coalition has urged cities to approve the new rate structuring method.
