Jacques “Jackie” Newton, 92, of Big Spring died Saturday March 8, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center. Private family services will be at a later date.
She was born March 12, 1921, to Wilma and Samuel Rawls in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Thomas J. Newton in Abilene, Texas on Feb. 17, 1945. He preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1997. She had been a resident of Big Spring for 13 years, moving to the city from Midland. She was a homemaker and housewife. She loved to bake chocolate meringue and lemon meringue pies. She also was a collector of salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by two daughters, Terry Smith and husband Ken of San Angelo, and Sandra Fulesday and husband Val of Big Spring; one son, Steven Newton of Albuquerque, N.M..; six grandchildren, Mike Smith of Holt, Mich., Brenda Morris and husband, Kris, of Mason, Mich., Suzanne Saenz and husband, John, of Midland, Shalon Kappler and husband Doug of Arlington, Ian Newton and wife Krista of Littleton, Colo. and Casey Brower and husband Eric of Albuquerque; and six great grandchildren, Bethany Saenz, Delaney Saenz, Nicholas Smiley, Jeffrey Brower, Jack Newton and Luke Newton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Carol Jean Smith; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn D. (Keen) Newton.
