FORSAN — It's crunch time for trustees with the Forsan Independent School District — number crunching time that is.
Board members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday to pour over numbers in the proposed budget and 2015 tax rate.
According to FISD Superintendent Randy Johnson, who was still hammering out the details Friday, officials expect to deliver a tight but balanced budget to trustees based on the same maintenance and operation rate of $1.04 per $100 per valuation. Johnson said he didn't have a figure yet for the district's debt service rate but expected it to be less than last year.
“The major change has to do with personnel,” Johnson said. “That is probably our biggest addition to the budget for this next year because we added three and half positions. We added three elementary positions – a first grade teacher, a second grade teacher and a third grade teacher to handle the number of students we've had come into the primary level. We also changed a part-time teaching position to full-time at our secondary campus. That teacher is in the math and science area.”
Following the discussion, trustees will consider setting a date for a public hearing and adoption over both the proposed budget and tax rate. Trustees will meet in the board room located at 411 W. 6th St., Forsan.
In other business, trustees will:
• Hear construction updates.
• Approve an agreement for the purchase of attendance credits.
• Review financial maters.
• Review state accountability results.
• Consider student code of conduct.
• Consider personnel issues.
