The whole idea behind it is to touch someone's heart, which only makes the name more fitting: The Heart Gallery.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services began the Heart Gallery, a traveling photo collection of children waiting for adoption, in 2001.
“The idea is that someone will see these photos and want to adopt one of these children,” said Rebecca Moughon, chairperson of the Howard County Child Welfare Board.
According to Amanda Wadsworth, HCCWB secretary, there are about 20 photos in this collection, but only 15 are in Big Spring on display. Twelve are on display at the Big Spring Mall, some are located next to Sears and the others are located across from Suggs Hallmark. Three of the photos are displayed at a local church, according to Wadsworth.
