The Lady Steers were back on the court in this weekend, participating in the annual tournament in Granbury. The Big Spring representatives went 2-2 Friday and then 1-1 Saturday, putting any hopes of bring hardware home out of their reach.
Big Spring fell to Grace Prep by scores of 24-26 and 15-25. Cerbi Ritchey and Morgan Seaton each had seven assists for Big Spring and combined for eight digs, 12 kills and 1 block.
Carson Reibe and Clara Benavides led the defense 15 digs between them, as well as two kills and two aces, while Taylor Seaton added three kills,four blocks and one dig to the stat sheet.
The Lady Steers rebounded against District 6-3A's Bowie Lady Rabbits,taking the game easily 25-12 and 25-8. Ritchey led the setters with nine assists, eight kills and three digs, while Morgan Seaton added seven assists,four kills and six digs. Carson Reibe made her presence felt in this one, rounding up 12 digs, five aces and an assist.
Big Spring found itself on the short end of the stick against Trinity, falling by scores of 21-25 and 16-25. Diamond Hayes had four blocks at the net, with two kills, while Reibe and Logan Yarbar combined for 13 digs.
Ritchey added seven assists, 12 digs, 11 kills and one block, while Haley Dimidjian had two kills and one ace. Ritchey and Dimidjian were joined by Team Seaton, Morgan (six assists, nine digs, one kill) and Taylor (six kills, one dig, one assist and one block).
Big Spring evened out their record for the day against Boswell, winning with scores of 25-19 and 25-12.
Big Spring began the day in a tough one against Arlington Heights, but found a way to win 25-30and 25-20.The girls then went up against Burleson in what turned out to be one of the toughest games of the tournament. The Lady Steers fell in three matches 20-25, 25-16 and 20-25.
Ritchey led the Lady Steers, recording 33 assists, 23 digs, 23 kills, seven blocks, three aces and two blocks in the two Saturday games.
Morgan Seaton put up 20 assists, 14 digs, 11 kills and two blocks.
Taylor Seaton added 18 kills, 13 blocks, five digs and one ace.
On defense, Reibe led with 22 digs, three aces, three kills and one assist. Logan Yarbar recorded 19 digs and a kill, while Kelsie Guinn had four digs, two aces, two blocks, an assist and one kill.
Clara Benavides had 17 digs on the day, along with four kills and and two assists. Diamond Mayes added five blocks, three kills and one dig to the team's stat sheet.
The Lady Steers will be back on the road this evening, as they face San Angelo Central. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
