After weeks of foundation work, construction is starting to go vertical on Big Spring Independent School District construction projects.
The most visible sign of progress in the $60 million renovation of BSISD's infrastructure is at the site of the new Goliad and Washington elementary campuses, where the walls of the new buildings began going up last week. And school officials promise that is only the beginning.
Until now, the vast majority of work has been on preparing and setting the foundations for four new elementary campuses which, while necessary, has not given observers any real sense of the progress being made by work crews.
That's changing, however, said Wayland Pierce, who is the school district's liason to the construction manager.
