Calling all sweethearts.
Canterbury is having its eighth annual Senior Sweetheart Dance tonight from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the public area at the Canterbury South building.
“This is a great opportunity for the residents to have their family come out and see where they are living,” Executive Director Shannon Nabors said. “It also provides an opportunity for the residents to go dance, have fun, hear some good music and not have to worry about driving back at night.”
Each year, according to Nabors, Cantrbury hosts two dances.
RC, described as an old favorite by Nabors, will be providing the entertainment for the dance.
“He plays a little bit of country, rock and roll and gospel. He plays a little bit of everything and he really puts on a good show,” Nabors said.
There is no admission to the dance and all community members are invited to attend. Nabors said the senior citizens of the community are really encouraged to participate.
“This is a great time for the residents to spend time with their loved one and at the same time, allows the community to come and see what Canterbury has to offer,” Nabors said. “This is when the residents get the chance to meet new friends and see old friends they haven’t seen in awhile.”
