Sapopa Salazar, 96, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Parkview Nursing Center. Vigil services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Alpine, Texas. She married Bonifacio Salazar in Big Spring. He preceded her in death in 1982. She spent most of her life in Big Spring. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she was very active.
She was a Catachist, a Guadalupana, a Cursillista and a member of the Legion of Mary. But most of all she was a loving mother and worked with the public all her life.
She is survived by 11 children, Margarita Rodriguez and husband John, Ramona Saenz and husband Jesus, Refugia Hernandez, Bonifacio Salazar Jr. and wife Kathy, Henry Salazar and wife Angelita, Inez Hines and husband Tom, Connie Arguello and husband Johnny and Mike Salazar, all of Big Spring, Frank Salazar of Houston, Maria Hilario and husband David of Irving and Janie Leyva and husband Charlie of Odessa; 41 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
