Annalise O'Connell received the President's Award as top student at SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf during the SWCID Awards Convocation Thursday evening.
The President's award is annually based on academic excellence, participation in all facets of student life, leadership in extra-curricular activities and college spirit, said Howard College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks, who presented the award.
O'Connell, a sophomore, will graduate from the institution with an associate's degree in interpreter training. During her time at SWCID, she has compiled a 4.0 grade point average and has been named to the President's List and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
