FORSAN — The first day of classes is still more than a month away, but officials at Forsan Independent School District are gearing up for a new school year.
New student registration has begun at Elbow Elementary and will continue through the first day of school Aug. 26.
Parents of elementary (grades pre-kindergarten through 5) students new to FISD will need to bring the following information to the campus, located at 5001 Nichols Road, when they register their children:
• The child's birth certificate.
• The child's Social Security card.
• The child's immunization record.
• Proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
• Proof of guardianship, if necessary.
• Parent or guardian's driver's license or state-issued ID card.
Registration at Elbow will be from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, officials said. For more information, call 432-398-5444.
New student registration at Forsan Junior High/High School will begin Aug. 12 at the campus office in Forsan, said Beverly Humphreys, PEIMS coordinator for the campus. Parents will be required to bring the same information as at Elbow Elementary.
Registration hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Friday.
Returning junior high/high school students may pick up their enrollment packets Aug. 13. Class schedules may be picked up once students return the completed packets, Humphreys said.
Sixth grade orientation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 22 in the junior high/high school auditorium. Those students will receive their class schedules and registration packets at that time, she said.
